Hey, Is Dee Dee Home? is the story of a young couple, Chris and Debbie, and their roommate, Dee Dee, who live together in an apartment building owned by the comparatively square Van Nesses in the lower-east side of NYC. The show is set during the early days of the punk rock scene and revolves around the trio's everyday lives as they struggle (along with their friends, Iggy and Lou) to find mainstream success with their respective bands.
After kicking Dee Dee out, Chris and Debbie have to convince him to leave the luxury apartment of David Byrne of the Talking Heads and come back to live with them in order to throw a legendary party for their landlord, Mr. Van Ness - or risk being kicked out themselves. Hilarity ensues.
